Blog Roll Updating

I'm no one to speak on going silent on the blog for days on end, but I do need to update my blogroll.  If you're on there currently and aren't blogging anymore, I love you - but you're soon to be missing.  If you are blogging somewhere else now or if you plan an upcoming resurgence, just let me know.  Also, if you are a reader and are blogging and I don't know yet, speak up. You may be finding yourself in the blogroll in the near future.

Healer (This Is Our God)

I love getting my hands on new worship music.  Here's a song from Hillsong/PlanetShakers that is already beginning to sweep across the globe amongst the body of Christ.  What a story and what a message!  The first video is the story behind the song.  The second video is the song performed live in its entirety.  Trust me, it's worth your time.  Enjoy. (Thanks to Pete and Zane for introducing this song to me from their blogs)

Jason "One Take" Hayes

Check out more about Connect Conferences HERE.  You won't want to miss these conferences. And, yes, I'm an idiot. And, no, I don't know why I'm comfortable talking to thousands of people live and yet uncomfortable talking to one guy with a camera.

Addressing Our Own Depth Issues

See HERE for a new article I just wrote for Threads.  Below is an excerpt:

In a spirit of optimism and possible naivety, I believe that very few Bible teachers set out to provide poor teaching. I would imagine that few desire to develop biblically ignorant Christ-followers, and even fewer are deliberately setting out to disseminate false teaching. However, it’s still happening. My hunch is that these things don’t happen out of poor motive, but rather as a result of dismal preparation. If this is the case, we each must look long and hard at our approach to studying His Word and evaluate our possible need to improve it.

ooVoo Threads Showcase

We have the great privilege at Threads of working with some incredible authors, speakers, etc. These men and women are part of our team, and part of our lives. Through working with them, we’ve gotten to know them well—and maybe you want that chance, too.

That’s why next week there’s a chance for you to talk with Threads authors through a cool video chat tool called Oovoo. This virtual coffee break is an opportunity for you to have a real conversation with folks like Mark Batterson, Jen Hatmaker, Michael Kelley, Todd Phillips, or myself. You can ask questions or just spend some time getting to know us.

It’s really easy to do. All you need is to follow THIS LINK and then follow the 4 easy steps there.

We hope you’ll sign up for a time slot, or more than one, so that you can be a part of the continuing conversation we’re having at Threads. Here’s a list of the participants in the chat, and we’ll see you online next week.  I'll also be participating.

Mark Batterson, author of Chase the Lion: Stepping Confidently Into the Unknown

Derek Leman, author of Feast: Finding Your Place at the Table of Tradition

Mike Harder, author of Jaded: Rediscovering Hope in Reality and InTransit: What Do You Do With Your Wait?

Michael Kelley, author of The Tough Sayings of Jesus I and II

Jen Hatmaker, author of upcoming Threads study and The Modern Girl’s Guide to Bible Study and Ms. Understood

Jim Johnston, Director of Young Adult Ministry, LifeWay

Todd Phillips, Author of Get Uncomfortable: Serve the Poor. Stop Injustice. Change the World…in Jesus’ Name

I'm Co-Authoring My First Book

Here's the big news.  I've been holding on to say much until the news broke from Ed, but here it is.  I'm pretty fired up about this project and think it will end up being a great resource.  I've been working hard on it and think it's going to turn out nicely.  As seen on Ed's blog, it will release in stores in January.  I'll be releasing another book myself soon after that with Threads, but you'll have to wait a few more weeks to hear about that.
